#Indielicious Blog Hop--Dreamscape Teaser Alert!

Happy Sunday, everyone, and Happy Easter to all those who are celebrating today.  Since some of you seemed to like the show of heat last time, I've hopefully, picked a scene that will please you today.  Enjoy!

My chest heaves into his as he pins my hands to my sides.  He’s got me, totally got me.  I’m desperate to find a solution, but his lower body makes moving my legs impossible.

Our eyes connect.  His are the color of bluebells in springtime right now.  I take a deep breath and his spice intoxicates me.  I’m dizzy and breathless all at once.

He leans down near my ear, pressing our bodies even closer together.  “Get out of this one,” he says.

I buck to fling him off me, but it doesn’t even faze him.  I wriggle underneath him. and it does nothing more than make me ten times more aware of how perfectly he fits against me.  I’ve got to do something fast, or this will not end well.  My body screams at me to stay right where I am, but I can’t listen to my thundering hormones.

When he stretches his long legs along mine, I make my move.  I use his movement to twist my legs around his.  I’ve gained just enough momentum to roll him underneath me.

When I gaze down at him, gloating, I realize he’s let me pin him.  So much for training.

My tongue jets out to wet my lips, and I’m instantly mortified where I’ve let him take this.  My palms clam up and my neck breaks out in a cold sweat.  My heart thuds against my ribs from the look he’s giving me.  He hasn’t said a word and I’m already melting.

I make myself jump off him.  Before he can say anything to me, I head for the hallway throwing over my shoulder.  “Got to make a pit stop.  Be back in a few.”

His chuckle follows me out of the room.

Make sure to check out the other tempting teasers today!

A Different Blue by Amy Harmon Release Day Blitz

A Different Kind of Blue & A Surprise!

Amy Harmon's new novel is out and the first thing I did this morning was download it. I am really looking forward to reading it so without further ado, here is some info you should know on A Different Blue.

Synopsis:

Blue Echohawk doesn't know who she is.  She doesn't know her real name or when she was born.  Abandoned at two and raised by a drifter, she didn't attend school until she was ten years old.  At nineteen, when most kids her age are attending college or moving on in life, she is just a senior in high school.   With no mother, no father, no faith, and no future, Blue Echohawk is a difficult student, to say the least. Tough, hard and overtly sexy, she is the complete opposite of the young British teacher who decides he is up for the challenge, and takes the troublemaker under his wing.

This is the story of a nobody who becomes somebody.  It is the story of an unlikely friendship, where hope fosters healing and redemption becomes love.  But falling in love can be hard when you don't know who you are.  Falling in love with someone who knows exactly who they are and exactly why they can't love you back might be impossible.

Here is a  little teaser from Ruby:

The metal elevator doors glided open to the luxurious seventeenth floor of the Herrick-Peyton building. Fresh, colorful hibiscus flowers welcomed Ava as she stepped into the reception area. She glanced around and made eye contact with the man she was looking for: Tom Walker. His face lit up when he saw her, and his handsome grin made Ava’s own smile spread across her face.

“Miss Tanner, what brings you up to the seventeenth floor?” Mr. Walker asked.

“Well, it’s been almost a year since you signed your last lease, and since you seem so comfortable up here, I thought I’d bring up the renewal papers,” Ava said as she looked around the lobby.

“Wonderful! Let’s step into my office, shall we? I’ll sign them right away. Otherwise, they’ll get lost on my desk.”

Ava nodded and followed Tom to his office. He stopped short and let her enter first as he gently placed a hand on the small of her back. Butterflies erupted in her stomach.

He closed the door behind them and gestured at one of the guest chairs while taking the packet of papers from her. She could smell his cologne as he approached her. It reminded her of rain and fresh cut grass. He took a seat behind his large desk, which shined in the sunlight from the window behind him.

“So the papers would get lost on your desk, huh?” Ava asked.

“Well, I might have exaggerated a bit,” he replied. Silence followed as he flipped through the pages of the lease.

He cleared his throat, “So, since I’m signing papers—”

“Oh, no. Let’s not start that, Mr. Walker. You know I can’t work for you,” Ava said, before he got the question out.

“How did you know?” He grinned.

“You ask me every time we see each other.”

“I wish we would see each other more often. Then maybe I would wear you down.”

“I just don’t think I’d fit in at Psytech, and I like where I am now,” Ava replied.

Tom sighed. “I know you do. I just can’t figure out why.”

The pen dragged on the last page of the renewal papers as Tom signed his name with a flourish. He stood and rounded the desk with a predatory look on his face. It was one that Ava had seen often. She couldn’t convince herself it was only the look of a man who wanted her to work for him. To her, it sometimes seemed that he wanted so much more. She took a deep breath as he came closer. She was about to stand, but he surprised her by sitting in the guest seat next to her.

“I hope that one day you will say yes to me. Psytech could really use you—I could really use you.”

Indielicious Blog Hop--Teaser Alert!

Hi Everyone,

I hope you are having a great Sunday morning.  It's time for another teaser from Dreamscape.  I'm trying not to give the whole plot of the book away, so I'm staggering my posts.  Hehe.

So here we go:

“What are the options?” she asks, throwing me even further off my game.
“I could explain what you saw, or I could show you while explaining.”
“I’ll take door number two, please,” she says in amused tone.
I stand.  “Very well, but there are some rules I need you to agree to before we proceed.”
Her eyes cloud with distrust.  “Yeah, what’s that?”
“First, I need you to promise me that no matter what you see you will not follow me into the Dreamscape.”
She gives me a derisive smirk and asks, “And second?”
“You will keep an open mind.”
Her tongue darts out to wet her lips, and I am frozen watching her.  Keeping my distance from her is much more difficult than I imagined.
I move toward the pit, calling the flames.  The wall of fire bursts forth and she lets out a yelp, no doubt remembering her burn.
I look back at her.  She sticks the tip of her finger into her mouth and nods. I close my eyes momentarily to distract myself.   “You will not be harmed, so long as you stay put.  Do you understand?”
She nods, and I move forward.  When I reach the wall, I hesitate, letting her feel the heat of the flames, letting her process what is about to happen.  Then I take my first step through the molten barrier.
She screams, and I whirl around wondering if the flames have inadvertently touched her.  Everything seems to be in the right place.  I sigh in relief.
Her voice comes out strained as she watches me stand in the fire.  “What the hell?”  She stands up, moving as if she will come over to me.
I step out of the flames and back into my living room.  She is still not ready.  I cannot trust her.  “You said you would sit still.”
She’s at my side instantaneously, running her fingers up my arms.  I close my eyes, reveling in her touch.  I’m afraid to look at her, which only makes this moment harder to control.
Her fingers withdraw, and I’m more disappointed than I thought possible.  I open my eyes and she’s staring at me, really staring.  For one brief moment I think she might recognize our connection then she blinks and the moment is broken.
She takes a step back.  Then another.  And another.

Don't forget to visit the other stops in the hop.  There are some great teasers floating out there now.  I can't wait to read what's next.

Happy Sunday everyone :)

Giveaway--Meet Your Favorite New Author/Thomas Winship

Hello Everyone!

I have a treat for you today.  I've decided that it's time for me to share some of my favorite authors with you, and I'm starting out with a series that surprised me.  I met Thomas Winship online a little over a year ago.  He was funny and read my books without being asked, which scored him major points with me ;)  When I saw his review of my first book, Five, I was floored by the fact he read it.  He had a disclaimer that it wasn't his usual read, but that he enjoyed it.

Well, Thomas wrote an Urban Fantasy called Vaempires.  Just look at that cover.  It gives a lot away as to what the book is about.  I don't do horror.  Just not my thing, but I decided to give Vaempires a try because if Thomas could read my sappy love story, I certainly could get through some gore, right?

RIGHT.

The thing that really surprised me about Vaempires was even though there was a lot of gore (some of those chilling images are still with me), the characters pulled at my heart and I had to know what happened to them.

Here's my reviews of Vaempires, Revolution and Vaempires, Zombie Rising:

Vaempires: Revolution (The Evolutionary War, Book One)Vaempires: Revolution by Thomas Winship
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The first thing I thought about this book was, "Vaempires? Why is there an e in there?"

The questions kept coming in this action packed thrill ride through the post appocolyptic world Thomas Winship created. I'm not usually into books that strattle the edge of horror. My vampire exposure has mostly beed those of the sparkling kind, so this whole idea of Vampires who are cold blooded undead, and Vaempires who are a mutation to warm blooded super vamps intrigued me.

From the very first page you are immersed in the war that the Vaempires have unleashed on humans and vampires alike. Some of the images are haunting to say the least, and me being the squeemish sort, I found myself skimming some of the fight scenes toward the end because I am a wimp like that.

That being said, I thoroughly enjoyed my read, and the story kept me turning pages until the climactic end. Mr. Winship, really? You had to leave it there? Just kidding. I love cliff-hanger endings, and this one is major. So there you have it. Great book, and I can't wait to see more from this amazing author!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

So Thomas Winship knows how to write! This series is so not my typical read. First of all, it has a bunch of gore, but I don't seem to mind because he's written his characters so well, I need to make sure they don't get eaten, blown up, turned into crazy zombies, or a number of other unsavory things.

This series has been a pleasant surprise for me. It's full of action, in fact, good luck catching your breath once you start reading! I totally loved Ray and Linque in this book. They were great friends and didn't give up even when they probably should have.

Loved the ending to this one! Now I have to see what happens next. I'm anxiously awaiting the next in the series. The characters are all well developed and all have an integral part to play in the story.

Great book, Tom! Loved it :)

So today, I'm offering you a chance to get to know a great author, who has mad writing chops.  His stories are full of action and kept me on the edge of my seat throughout each read.

#Indielicious Blog Hop--Teaser Alert!

Good Morning, My lovelies!

I have a fun scene from Dreamscape I hope you enjoy!  Here we go:

It is time I take Amelia out of her world.  Although she will not be in any danger, she will also not be able to affect anything in her current state; however, she might be enticed by the other worlds I can offer her.
I lift my gaze to hers, letting the moment excite me.  She will say yes and then I will have her.  “You know,” I say to draw out the suspense.  “I have just the thing to go with that.”
She laughs.  “You have just the…thing…to go with a gold cuff?  A woman’s gold cuff?”
“I am very resourceful,” I tell her then before she can say another word, I lift her in to my arms to carry her out of the water.  She yelps at my touch, but I will not put her down now.  She is mine and it is time for her to understand that.
She pushes against my chest, squirming slightly, but after only a moment her fingers curl against my skin and she inhales a sharp breath.  Her heartbeat rises to a fever pitch.  It is all I can do to keep my smile at bay.  “What do you think you are doing?” she says, indignant.
“Answering your question.”
She swallows hard, seeming to not know where to place her hands.  I still haven’t entered her mind even though I could gain a world of understanding if I did.  She doesn’t speak again until I place her gently on the rock where I found her.  She leans away from me almost immediately, but I ignore her posturing.
I stand, allowing the vision to come.  We are in a ballroom; she is pressed against me.  My hand rests against her bare back as I guide her along the dance floor.  The orchestra can barely be heard above the hum in the room.
Amelia blinks up at me, bewildered.  Her sensual green eyes take in the room in a single sweeping glance then find mine once again, suddenly full of fire.  “Where the hell are we, Seth?”
Her heart beat pulses spastically through her silk dress against my abdomen and her lips open as if on another question.  For a split second I’m tempted to dine on those lips, but I make myself answer her.  “You wanted to know what went with your gold cuff.  I am merely showing you.”
