Blog Tour--A Prescription for Delirium by Noree Cosper

I'd like to welcome Noree Cosper today.  I'm helping Noree celebrate the release of her novel A Prescription for Delirium.  Thanks for stopping by today, Noree!

In “A Prescription for Delirium” Gabby and the Van Helsings deal with a hellhound. Here is more about the origins of werewolves and Hellhounds in Gabby’s own words.

From the journals of Gabriella Di Luca (Translated to English):

March 1658
I have arrived in Yorkshire, Britain to find the truth of possibly a demonic dog.  This overgrown island has several tales of black dogs roaming the countryside. They are supposed to be aspirations that are believed to be from the Devil. How little the common man knows of what really lurks in our world and beyond it.

I was skeptical of the stories at first, but I decided to investigate. The townsfolk of York call the creature a Barguest, and apparently there has been more than one over the centuries. It likes to attack lone travelers at night, sometimes along the roads in and out of the city and sometimes within the city itself. It looks like I need to do some reconnaissance.

April 1658
The Barguest is no dog! It is not even a wolf, but a werewolf and a demon. I have heard tales of lupines but have never encountered one before tonight. The vision of the demon inside it was monstrous, a black hound with burning red eyes. It has taken me this long to recover from my encounter with it. I was able to banish it but the creature managed to wound me with its claws. The good sisters at the abbey have tended to my wounds. Truthfully, I was lucky to escape with my life. Perhaps banishment is not the best way to deal with a demon of this type. I must research into what it was.

July 1659
I have found more information about werewolves. Lupines, though quite vicious, territorial, and animalistic are not all evil. However, they are less human than I am comfortable with. Still, to find out the truth I had to associate with them. From their own tales, the werewolves claim that the first of them were blessed by the Norse spirits Freki and Geri. These were Odin’s wolves that traveled with him.

From what I can understand, these first humans were emissaries, those touched by spirits. Their gifts were passed down through their bloodline until an entire new race had been created. Despite the tales, lycanthropy is not a disease spread from a werewolf’s bite.

December 1671
I have found the name of the demon I faced in Yorkshire years ago.  It is known as a hellhound. The Thrones of Hell use them as guardians and sometimes retrievers of souls. From what I understand, some werewolves do become corrupted. This is not surprise considering I haven’t heard of anything in this world that is incorruptible. The werewolves willing allow themselves to become possessed by a hellhound. They are harder to kill because of a werewolf’s extraordinary ability to heal, but I heard alchemical silver is good to fight them. However, I have no weapon to fight a demon with, much less a possessed werewolf.

A Prescription for Delirium

Blurb:
Ninety years ago, Gabriella di Luca promised to protect the family of her dying lover. She failed to keep that promise.  She was too far away to stop the devil that murdered the eldest Van Helsing son. Years later, Gabby learns the devil has resurfaced. She arrives in Hampton, TX, determined to stop the devil before it can lay a bloody hand on the remaining three brothers.

However, madness is spreading through Hampton. She suspects the devil is using this madness to test a drug which has a side effect of demonic possession.  Gabby rushes to end the source of the madness only to fall victim to it. For a woman cursed with eternal life, dying is no threat. However, Gabby must stop the devil's plot or risk losing her most precious possession: her mind.

A Prescription for Delirium is released on December 1st, 2012.

Bio:
Noree Cosper loves writing about magic in the modern world. While growing up in Texas she constantly searched for mystical elements in the mundane. She buried her nose in both fiction and books about Wicca, Religion, and Mythology. Everyday became an adventure as she joined a group of role-players, acting out her fantasies of vampires, demons, and monsters living in the world.

She embraced her nerdom wholeheartedly.

Noree grew, but never left her love for fantasy and horror. Her dreams pushed her and her hand itched to write the visions she saw. So, with her fingers on the keys, she did what her heart had been telling her to do since childhood. She wrote.

Noree can be found stalking people on Twitter and Facebook.

Be sure to check out her website for news on her works and tidbits of information

She also likes to ramble about things magical and supernatural on her blog Trip the Eclipse.
