Giveaway--Meet Your Favorite New Author/Thomas Winship

Hello Everyone!

I have a treat for you today.  I've decided that it's time for me to share some of my favorite authors with you, and I'm starting out with a series that surprised me.  I met Thomas Winship online a little over a year ago.  He was funny and read my books without being asked, which scored him major points with me ;)  When I saw his review of my first book, Five, I was floored by the fact he read it.  He had a disclaimer that it wasn't his usual read, but that he enjoyed it.

Well, Thomas wrote an Urban Fantasy called Vaempires.  Just look at that cover.  It gives a lot away as to what the book is about.  I don't do horror.  Just not my thing, but I decided to give Vaempires a try because if Thomas could read my sappy love story, I certainly could get through some gore, right?

RIGHT.

The thing that really surprised me about Vaempires was even though there was a lot of gore (some of those chilling images are still with me), the characters pulled at my heart and I had to know what happened to them.

Here's my reviews of Vaempires, Revolution and Vaempires, Zombie Rising:

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The first thing I thought about this book was, "Vaempires? Why is there an e in there?"

The questions kept coming in this action packed thrill ride through the post appocolyptic world Thomas Winship created. I'm not usually into books that strattle the edge of horror. My vampire exposure has mostly beed those of the sparkling kind, so this whole idea of Vampires who are cold blooded undead, and Vaempires who are a mutation to warm blooded super vamps intrigued me.

From the very first page you are immersed in the war that the Vaempires have unleashed on humans and vampires alike. Some of the images are haunting to say the least, and me being the squeemish sort, I found myself skimming some of the fight scenes toward the end because I am a wimp like that.

That being said, I thoroughly enjoyed my read, and the story kept me turning pages until the climactic end. Mr. Winship, really? You had to leave it there? Just kidding. I love cliff-hanger endings, and this one is major. So there you have it. Great book, and I can't wait to see more from this amazing author!

So Thomas Winship knows how to write! This series is so not my typical read. First of all, it has a bunch of gore, but I don't seem to mind because he's written his characters so well, I need to make sure they don't get eaten, blown up, turned into crazy zombies, or a number of other unsavory things.

This series has been a pleasant surprise for me. It's full of action, in fact, good luck catching your breath once you start reading! I totally loved Ray and Linque in this book. They were great friends and didn't give up even when they probably should have.

Loved the ending to this one! Now I have to see what happens next. I'm anxiously awaiting the next in the series. The characters are all well developed and all have an integral part to play in the story.

Great book, Tom! Loved it :)
